More About Our Team

  • Director

    Rachel is the Owner & Director of Dance Street™ Performing Arts School in Melbourne, which she founded and has been operating for 13 years. Her qualifications include a Certificate IV in Dance, Qualified D.F.T.A (Dance Teacher), Short Course in Dance Adjudication, FitIn60 Barre Instructor, PBT Teacher and a Diploma of Sales & Marketing. She also certified herself and her studio Keep Kids Safe in DANCE. 

    She has been teaching for 35 years and dancing for over 45. Rachel started studying Classical Ballet (Cecchetti) & Tap at the Heidelberg Ballet School aged 2, then joined the world of Ballroom Dancing at age 5 training at Keith Collins School of Dance, Granada Dance Centre and The DanceWorx. She started her Jazz training at age 6. 

     Along with studying & passing many Cecchetti Ballet exams, Rachel has performed on numerous TV shows, appeared in many print media articles & has travelled internationally for competitions and floorshows. Rachel trained and competed professionally as a Ballroom Dancer and achieved many accolades. She was Australian Professional Rising Star Champion in both Latin & Standard, ranked 1st in Victoria over both styles, Victorian Theatrical Champion, represented Australia Internationally and won many State, National & International titles. 

    Rachel is also a committee member of Dance Arts Alliance Inc., a not-for-profit organisation that aims to support, advocate, and unify Dance & Performing Arts Studio Owners and the industry as a whole. 

     Rachel has trained and loved all styles of dance and is passionate about passing this love of dance technique and music appreciation on to all her students. 

  • Dance Instructor

    Clancy has been teaching for over 10 years and dancing for 20 years. Clancy trained at Dance Discovery in all styles including Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Acrobatics. She was a part of their competitive Troupe Team for 12 years, began working as a student teacher and completed all her ATOD examinations in Jazz, Tap and Ballet. 

    Clancy worked with Showtime Attractions for 4 years in character roles and promotional work such as Bananas in Pyjamas and Kung Fu Panda. She did an appearance as the Easter Bunny at the Royal Women’s Hospital. 

    Clancy is currently studying Bachelor of Primary Education. She has completed a Certificate 3 in Education Support and worked in areas of behaviour management and trauma informed care with children. 

    Clancy loves teaching all styles of dance and is passionate about technique, friendship and doing your best! 

  • Dance Instructor + Singing Teacher + Vocal Coach + Musical Director

    Emily has been singing and dancing for 30 years and teaching performing arts for over a decade. She has also directed four musical theatre productions for local secondary schools. 

    Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre from The University of Ballarat Arts Academy and a Diploma of Dance and Performance from The Dance Factory. Trained in all styles of dance, Emily has a particular passion for tap. Since becoming a mum, she has developed a deep love for teaching young dancers, inspiring creativity, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts. 
     
    In addition to her performing arts qualifications, Emily has earned a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology from La Trobe University. When not teaching dance, she works as a speech pathologist at a specialised voice clinic and primary school. From her experience working in schools, Emily integrates sensory strategies into her dance classes to create a more engaging and inclusive learning environment for all.  
     
    As a performer, though largely retired, Emily has performed in fringe festivals, musical theatre productions, floor shows, sporting events, TV commercials, and small acting roles. As a choreographer, her work has been featured in Triple J music videos and charity performances. 
     
    Emily’s passion for performance and storytelling shines through in her teaching. She is dedicated to helping her students find joy and confidence in the arts, encouraging them to express themselves through movement and music.

  • Dance and Performing Arts Instructor + Troupe Coach

    Brooke completed her full-time training at Brent Street where she received her Certificate IV in Performing Arts along with an Outstanding Academic Award.

    She has danced and competed for over 17 years in Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballet, Contemporary and Song & Dance, studying at Bee Bop Studios and Tasmania Academy of Dance. She has also trained in singing with Cara Tatnell.

    Brooke has been teaching all styles for 8 years to all age groups and levels and was a part of the “Follow Your Dreams Competitions 2020 Associate Program”.

    She has performed in numerous amateur Musical Theatre productions including, “Wicked” , “The King & I”, “Mary Poppins” and “Annie”, also receiving multiple competition awards including Overall Champion 2018 and National Champion Song & Dance 2018.

    Brooke moved to Melbourne from her native Tasmania to study Physiotherapy at La Trobe University, where she completed her degree in 2025.

    She is also a member of the SE Melbourne Phoenix Flames Dance Team

    Brooke loves to teach! She is passionate about dance, singing and performing and inspiring students be their best.

  • Dance Instructor + Troupe Coach 

    Selena has been a dancer for 19 years she began her dancing journey at the age of 3 in 2007 at Dance Discovery training in the styles of Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Acrobatics. She has completed A.T.O.D Jazz, Tap, ballet and hip-hop examinations and has qualified to compete in the ATOD Victorian and Australasian scholarships since 2015. 
    She competed in many dance competitions and championships and was Troupe Captain in 2018. Selena has been teaching for over 5 years & has continuously expanded her knowledge. She has completed a certification 3 in early childhood and education and outside of dancing she has the training for mixed martial arts including Muay Thai training. 

    Selena has performed at the Moomba Parade, worked for Fame Agenda, Danza Talent, JV entertainment, RQ entertainment, Pulse Entertainment, she has performed in Robbie Williams tribute show, and several floor shows with crown, she has also attended many workshops such as Stephen Tannos, Mia Michaels and Abbey Lee Miller. 

    Selena has a passion for teaching kids, she is hard working and loves to see her students achieve their goals and reach their full potential in dance.

  • Dance Instructor

    Jamaal has been dancing for over 18 years training in Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, & Commercial. Growing up in Ballarat, he attended the prestigious Anita Coutts School of Dance, after moving to Melbourne, he continued his training at Patrick Studios Australia, obtaining a Certificate III in Dance. 

    Jamaal has been teaching classes and workshops for the past 5 years, and is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Applied Mathematics at RMIT. Jamaal is a strong stylist dancer with foundations in a range of styles, creating a wonderful, well-rounded understanding of dance. 

    He is passionate about creating choreography, technique training and passing down his love for dance and inspiring the next generation of talent. 

  • Dance Instructor

    Sarah Rassool is a highly experienced dancer with over 20 years of training and performance across a wide range of styles. She began her dance journey at Dance Discovery before joining Dance Street™ in 2015, where she continued to develop her technical and artistic skills.

    Sarah has trained extensively in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, and song and dance. She has completed RAD ballet examinations and ATOD examinations in ballet, tap, and jazz, qualifying to compete in both the ATOD Victorian and Australasian Scholarships.

    Throughout her school years, Sarah danced competitively as both a soloist and troupe member and later continued her competitive career with the Melbourne University Premier Pom Team. Her performance experience includes appearances at the Royal Melbourne Show, Moomba Parade, NBL halftime shows, and the Disneyland Parade in Hong Kong. She has also worked in character performance, showgirl meet-and-greets, and corporate entertainment, showcasing her versatility and professionalism as a performer.

    Outside of dance, Sarah is a Clinical Nurse Specialist working on a surgical ward. She holds a Bachelor of Health Science, a Master of Nursing Science, and a Postgraduate Degree in Acute Care Nursing, reflecting her strong commitment to both the arts and healthcare.

  • Dance Instructor

    Alex has been performing for 20 years training in Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballet, Musical Theatre & Singing, with 12 years of that at Dance Street™.

    Alex is currently completing her Cert IV at Transit Dance, is a qualified Beauty Therapist and the older sister to 5 brothers!

    Alex loves teaching our Foundation Tinys and Recruits age groups, enjoys watching them grow throughout the year in their dance training and confidence, but mostly, she loves their funny stories.

  • Dance Instructor

    Alex has been training in Dance & Performing Arts for 16 years including Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Commercial, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Song & Dance and Vocal training.

    Alex has performed in numerous Musical Theatre productions playing leading roles in Cats Abridged, SpongeBob the Musical, Moana Jnr as well as the role of “Matilda” in Matilda Jnr.

    Alex studied at Dance Street™ before heading to Transit High School Academy, where she graduated in 2025.

    She is now taking on full-time dance ay SCIMM Dance Company, is part of Stella Youth Company and competed a piece at GROUNDED: Battle of the Arts in 2025

    She has competed in our Troupe team, along with competing many solo performances at a variety of competitions in Melbourne.

    Alex loves teaching and choreographing & hopes to continue an extensive career in dance and performing arts.

  • Dance Instructor

    Ella has been dancing for nine years, training across all styles of dance. She began her dance journey right here at Dance Street™ and has since continued to grow both artistically and technically.

    Ella is currently studying full-time dance at Transit Dance, where she is part of their High School Academy program. Alongside her training, she has been an integral member of our leadership program, DanceStep, for over four years, gaining valuable experience in leadership, mentoring, and studio culture.

    Over the past 12 months, Ella has also taken on cover teaching roles, further developing her skills as an educator and role model. She is excited to be officially joining the Dance Street™ teaching team in 2026 and looks forward to leading, inspiring, and mentoring our younger dancers as they begin their own dance journeys.

  • Admin Assistant

    Lucy has been dancing for almost 7 years, starting at Dance Discovery and joining Dance Street™ in 2022. Throughout her dance journey, she has trained in a variety of styles, including Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, and Acro. Lucy has also been an active member of the Dance Street™ senior troupe, competing with the team over the past two years.

    Currently in her second year at the Victorian College of the Arts, Lucy is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) with a focus on Stage Management and Lighting. This academic experience enhances her passion for the performing arts both on and off the stage.

    Lucy is thrilled to be taking on the role of Administration Assistant this year and looks forward to contributing her skills and enthusiasm to the Dance Street™ team.
